Game Overview

This third-person action game challenges players to control a soldier investigating mysterious disturbances. Along the way, they must use their weapons strategically to defeat enemies from different dimensions, collecting power crystals that unlock further progression. The gameplay combines combat and exploration, requiring tactical decision-making and fast reflexes.

My roles:

  • 3D Asset Design: Designed and modeled weapons and key environmental objects, ensuring visual coherence with the game’s mechanics and atmosphere.
  • Level Design: Created and implemented game levels, from initial blueprints to final execution, ensuring they supported both narrative and gameplay goals.
  • Gameplay Mechanics & Balancing: Helped refine the combat system and enemy interactions, ensuring engaging and well-paced gameplay.

  • Rescoping: The original project scope was too ambitious, requiring us to streamline features and prioritize core mechanics for a polished final version.
  • Technical Learning Curve: Faced with new tools and workflows, I dedicated extra time to self-learning and iteration, ensuring that both level design and assets met quality expectations.

Takeaways:

This project strengthened my skills in 3D modeling, level design, and gameplay balancing, while also enhancing my team communication and problem-solving abilities. It deepened my interest in narrative-driven level design and reinforced the importance of efficient collaboration in game development.

As a result, our team successfully delivered a fun and engaging arcade microgame, with showcase feedback praising its intensity, humour, and the excitement of discovering unexpected TV programs. The time limit added a thrilling challenge, while the variety of quirky channels kept players entertained and eager to see more.
